Our Story
Bend Epicurean is more than just a platform; it’s a celebration of the rich culinary and travel culture of Central Oregon and beyond. Founded by Alisha and Greg, Bend Epicurean was born from their deep connection to the food and beverage industry and a personal journey toward health and well-being. After being diagnosed with autoimmune diseases, they set out to embrace a lifestyle centered around fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients and unforgettable travel experiences. This platform is their way of sharing that journey, highlighting not just the incredible culinary talent but also the hidden gems and local businesses that make Central Oregon a paradise for food lovers and travelers alike.

Our Niche Voice
Our connection to the culinary world goes beyond our professional expertise. Living with autoimmune diseases has sparked our determination to embrace cleaner, more mindful eating. Alisha’s journey with Crohn’s disease and Greg’s experience with Celiac disease have taught us the value of fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients. We are inspired to find joy and nourishment in every bite, sharing this passion with our community through Bend Epicurean.
Our Inspiration
In the spring of 2023, we experienced a profound loss with the passing of Max Fischer, Alisha’s father and a second father to Greg. His departure left an irreplaceable void in our lives, but his legacy lives on through his unwavering passion for food, wine, and the exploration of the stories behind them. Max taught us that food is not just sustenance but a gateway to understanding cultures and forging connections. Inspired by his love of cuisine and the indomitable spirit of the late Chef Anthony Bourdain, we believe that food and travel are the ultimate gateways to explore culture.
To honor Max’s memory, we’ve embarked on an epicurean journey that celebrates local cuisine, travel experiences, restaurants, and artisanal products that define Central Oregon. Our goal is to bring to life the same joy and curiosity we shared with Max, supporting small businesses through storytelling and amplifying their voice while encouraging others to explore and savor the richness of our region.
